After two series of Debat Sinar (and two series of Dalam Radar special), I am pretty sure the pressure of having debate between our dear DS Najib and dear DS Anwar is amounting.
During first Debat Sinar, it was mentioned by the moderator:
“We have heard debate in 2008 in the US, 2010 in the UK, and in our country, we hope PM Datuk Seri najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Anwar will appear in debate for the General Elections”
It is an interesting idea, but the moderator and those in favour of the debate forgot something, that is LESS to be PROMOTED – the debate between the second man in command. Yes – The debate between Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Chief of Opposition.
In the US, there is debate between the President and the one contesting for the position. So does for Vice President’s position.
For 2012, the process will happen once again. It has been announced back in November 2011. You can read it here.
In the closing speech by the moderator, it was mentioned the debate between PM and the de facto leader of PKR. Unlike in the US, which mention the position is for leading candidate for a leading role, we have here a highest position in government versus the highest position in a party???
Come on. It should be PM vs Opposition Leader. This is more appropriate. A leader of a coalition versus a leader of a coalition.
Since many has taken US as a template for REASON to have the debate, we should also have debate between second in command for both sides – the government and the opposition. Similar to the US, we can see how inspire a deputy will be and basic ideas and principals of a vice/deputy that will work with the numero uno.
For the government, we already have a name – TS Muhyiddin.
And if materialize.. he will debate against???
Question on the street: Who is vice/deputy Opposition Leader (which will give us a clear picture who is the second in command if Pakatan Rakyat wins. 🙂 )???
