I supposed that Malaysians were hoping we could go through the next round by beating Singapore with more than 2 goals. Based on a hope by having 3 away goals, Malaysian fans flocked into National Stadium in hoping Harimau Malaya able to beat Singapore.
However, the final result saw Singapore through to the next round.
I have not so much to say. Yes, some of us may be disappointed with the result. Worse, one player was red carded at the final minutes of the match.
However, bear in mind. Somewhere, at some point, Harimau Malaya would lose. Even the best team have their moment. And this is the moment we suffered a defeat (by aggregate) after quite sometime. At least, we do not lose at home ground.
As in regards to the match, I would say well done to Singapore. They played their tactics well. Limping and getting hurt along the way during the game. Their time wastage tactics worked for them. Even for a challenge not that hard, they wasted a lot of time, be it during first half or second half. If an Oscar can be given, I would give the whole team every single one of them.
And that’s football. Yes, Singapore may have applied time wastage and play acting tactics, but it worked for them for a while. I do not know if this kind of play will work until they can qualify to play in Brazil 2014.
As for Harimau Malaya, let take this as a wake up call. Since this year you guys will be heading to defend the gold medal of SEA Games, defend it well. Win the gold medal once again to show that we are worth to be among the giants in South East Asia.
From my point of view, even though tonight’s game was not that well, but compared to what was performed for the past 10 years, I am in opinion that the game has been raised to higher level. Keep on raising the quality of the game.
Singapore team, congratulations. Even though you guys are not that professional and more like play acting, I understand you guys need to do what you need to do.
Harimau Malaya, do not lose hope. Keep your head’s high, and keep on performing well for the next matches to come. As said earlier, take this as a wake up call.
It was obvious that we lose due to lack of concentration at the back. The one goal that we let go tonight (and nights before) was due to lapse of concentration by the defensive play. Tonight have shown that even the keeper is on form, but with defenders not able to focus during the game, we will give away goals.
Hopes on the street: To see Harimau Malaya to keep on improving. Yes, they are some “lalang” will criticize you guys badly as if no tomorrow, but some do still support you.
And yes, at least we have pure Malaysians to play for us.. not imported players given nationality to play for our national team. 🙂
