It has been quite sometime that I have a free time to really write my thoughts on heavy stuff. For example, the recent remarks made by MCA President over 30% Equity for Bumi.
It is not I don’t understand why DS Dr Chua Soi Lek made such moves to comment and in a way questions the 30% question. In fact I do. As a president who has promised to revive MCA and to take care the welfare of chinese community, he ought to do something when some demanded for those portion to be opened to all. This kind of call have been there for quite some time and getting stronger lately.
I also taking into consideration series of crisis that revolves around on one of the biggest partner in Barisan coalition. PKFZ scandal, leadership tug of war and non-ethical scandal that paint the election of their own leadership are among the factors that made MCA falling down. If one can remember, there were a lot of criticism on MCA leadership back then since PKFZ scandal and the porn scene being brought to public attention.
Adding up to such pressure, MCA also being criticised with not being able to attract chinese voters to vote Barisan,. They realise that chinese votes have been swinging to DAP for the past few elections due to their incapable of doing something. MCA and its president along with his cabinet of leaders ought to do something. They have to do something to survive and not being sidelined by chinese in Malaysia.
With all these factors to be considered, that is why I said I’m not suprised. Due to such pressure for survival, attacking the 30% is one of the ways to revive trust towards MCA.. perhaps. It has been a trend of late, to survive, attack anything related to Bumi, be it from religious side or constitution.
However, being a leader of an organisation that have been partnering UMNO, MIC and other Barisan components, DS Dr Chua should also realise how the road was built. Being the president of such big political organisation with good partnership with UMNO, MIC and other Barisan components, he should be able to pull off a well researched study on the composition of wealth distributed among Malaysians. He and his MCA compatriots also should realise that they should be able to come out with a good explaination on what they can see from the top and rationale with it.
I do aware that there are hardcore poor among non-bumis. And so do the bumis. Being Malaysians are made up majority by Bumis, I’m pretty sure that DS Dr Chua can easily find that it is much easier to find poor Bumis than non-bumis. Unless of course, he ignores that view.
Perhaps, we ought to see this in another perspective. A perspective that should hit your logical thinking (only if you open your mind and heart to this question).
IF out of 100%, the bumis gained more than 50% along with the 30% quota, then I think it is fair to say that we should abolish the 30% quota.
HOWEVER, CURRENTLY, the bumis cannot even fulfill the 30%. So is it fair to say that bumis has treated the non-bumis unfairly? Do remember that bumis made up more than 50% of Malaysian population, but not even can to have 30% share. Even if the quota of cake is divided into 3 major cakes, I still can see Bumis are lagging behind. A portion of 70% to be shared among non-bumis. And this does not include ali-baba bumi equity that bumi just being a proxy.
So, who is actually inconsiderate? Who is actually being greedy here?
And this message goes out to the corrupted bumi (and also to DS Nazri Aziz). You have gained your wealth, but it seems some of bumis are so corrupted that he or she not even bother to help to improve his or her community. At least, try to mingle aorund with your lower rank staffs and see how they live. That is why, there are also calls for minimum wage for those who are not as fortunate as you.
Especially to those corrupted bumis in political parties. You are the one who are bringing shame to the bumis and malays. Because of your acts and antics, the non-bumis thought that they are being mistreated.
Question by OnDaStreet: Is 30% is bigger than 70%?
I heard that the demands came from racist and inconsiderate individuals that I believe that they can count. So, which one is bigger? Why chase the small portion when you have enjoyed the rest?
Unless of course… greedy and inconsiderate you are…
And pity.. DS Dr Chua can fall for that..
Perhaps DS Najib words can be understood by MCA leaders?
