Malaysia New Line Up: Start your Engine!

I guess mixed of feelings on the announcement of new line  up of Malaysia’s new cabinet ministers with some new faces, some being dropped, and some unexpected appointment. Harakah already voiced their concerns on the new line up (like here, here and here). Well, for me, nothing wrong here as Harakah is the voice for PAS. Of course, this new line up will (actually already) created some fuss from supporters of Khairy Jamaludin despite he himself saying that Pemuda would not pressure PM in getting minister post. Being the only leader who won in the last AGM UMNO not being appointed as one of the ministers, this has created some questions from Khairy’s supporters and not to mention Harakah. Harakah put it in a very “beautiful way”:

Paling sadis, Naib Ketua Pemuda Umno, Dato’ Razali Ibrahim turut diserap ke dalam “Pasukan Baru” Najib dan dilantik sebagai Timbalan Menteri Belia dan Sukan membantu Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Chik yang dipindahkan dari Kementerian Penerangan.”

Why such questions need to be asked. After all, after the announcement of new cabinet of ministers, Khairy pledged his support to DS Najib even though he is not given any minister post. So, this message goes out to Pemuda UMNO, especially who whole-heartedly support Khairy, please respect DS Najib’s decision as much as you asked when Khairy won the Ketua Pemuda post last AGM UMNO.

By the way, look at this way positively. As much as there fuss when Khairy won KP post, some said there must be a silver lining. I agree with that. Perhaps, this is the time for Khairy to get the support from youth for UMNO and BN. Perhaps this the time Khairy can prove he is best for value by getting Malaysian football back on track. This show that he himself can do it without delegating his tasks to anyone like he did to Dato Soh Chin Aun. Like Wenger J Khairy said, No KJ, No big Deal.

On the other hand, Harakah questioned on why PM and TPM holding Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Education instead of other “hot” ministries. Well, my opinion is, perhaps, at this point of time, both ministries are slightly more important as we are facing world economic downturn and being part of moving forward, education is an important element to mold better generation.

As one of the Malaysians on the street, I hope with the tasks and responsibility given will be carried out as a leader should do for rakyat. DS Najib, TS Muhyiddin and ministers, congratul;ations with new portfolios.

Hopes on the street: Ministers, please start your engine and carry out your responsibilities for rakyat. We are counting on you.

p/s: Oh yeah, with this conjunction, I would like to take the opportunity to congartulate Datuk Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah, Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad for being appointed as full ministers and deputy minister. Why? As a SDARian, I am proud being one because of you. Just make sure that our school motto “Berilmu untuk Berjasa” really being carried out for the rakyat!🙂

  1. ODS,

TSMY is tasked to head Ministry of Education but I can smell something fishy here (or I would say brilliant move by DSN). You know that the Government has yet to decide on PPSMI and now TSMY is the MAN who has to decide/announce the decision. For your record, UMNO Johor in the previous UMNO General Assemblies has proposed the abolishment of PPSMI.

If TSMY decides in favour of UMNO Johor, he may get the support from them but not from TDM (you know now we have Menteri Mentor or De facto PM). If he continues the policy, he will get the support from TDM but not from UMNO Johor. How is he going to win the election if the johorean do not support him?

If DSN really wants TSMY to become the head of our education system since “education is an important element to mold better generation”, he should put TSMY in MoHE instead.

I think the ministries that are important as of today are MoF, MoHR (for retrenchment), MoHE (for jobless grads), MITI (for FDI), EPU (stimulus pacakage) and MECD for small entreprenuer (unfortunately DSN abolish the MECD)..These are ministries that play important role in the current economic situation. Obviously not Mindef of MoE.

For Khairy, it is a blessing is disguise. DSN has given him the path to become PM in future.

ODS: Thank you Syahrul. Well, UMNO Johor maybe the one propose to abolish PPSMI, but perhaps, after a better look on what’s in the office, a re-think, re-decision and better explaination can be made. Sometimes it is easier to say out loud when we are not in the office, but once we are in, and have the better insight, perhaps, we may change our stance.

After all, if the decision comes from No. 2, not as UMNO Johor, the strenght of message of the decision should be considered.

MOE is suitable to get the foundation stronger. No doubt, higher education is vital, but if the foundation is weak, the task to educate these matured teenager would be much harder. Like the old malay saying “Melentur buluh biar dari rebungnya”. If it is not important and vital, then we need to figure out why parents nowadays send their kids as early as 4 years old to school.🙂

The reason behind decision only Allah, Najib and the involved one (if any) knows. My assumption is based on current situation and reasoning (as if I am DS Najib). Yes, all matters, not just education and finance ministry, but between all the ministries (and no more ministries), perhaps, DS Najib has identified what is need to be done.

Well, not to worry. There will be review on KPIs of each minister and deputy minister. At least, we will be able to keep track who is sleeping on the job.🙂

You are part of people on the street. My opinion might not as good as yours. Come, please share your thoughts with us!!!
