Looking at recent developments on Pakatan Rakyat matters, I was having such disbelief of what’s happening to them. To me, it was (and is still) a ploy to confuse Barisan Nasional and their supporters. Why?
-
Dr Hasan Ali was sacked a day before a judgment would be passed on DS Anwar Ibrahim. If a ploy was planned, I have no surprise if Dr Hasan Ali to re-join back PAS in few days time after the court decides (be it DS Anwar guilty or acquitted). So, if anyone from Barisan Nasional too quick to use him against Pakatan Rakyat or PAS, they would be trapped in psy-war and cy-war. Further, would give added advantage to Pakatan Rakyat by saying Barisan Nasional was proven trying to distort harmony within Pakatan Rakyat’s coalition. Whatmore if those words uttered by Dr Hasan Ali;
-
DS Hj Hadi’s backing out from polls could be another ploy to confuse Barisan Nasional. As certain might say, he is testing the water. He is testing how much support he has left after Dr Hasan Ali sacking from PAS;
-
PAS asked DS Anwar to retract the statement on the Israel issue or file a summon. However, PAS might say that DS Anwar’s statement on Israel in the WSJ article has been misunderstood after a close meeting among them.
The incidents are vital in determining the next few days, weeks or even months of Pakatan Rakyat and fence sitters ahead of GE13. It is also a test how strong PAS in Pakatan Rakyat and how significant is DS Anwar, DS Haji Hadi and also Dr Hasan Ali towards Pakatan Rakyat’s chances to Putrajaya (other than Lim & Son and Karpal Singh).
Since the formation of Pakatan Rakyat, PAS has been always seem to be number 3 by rank of 3. In other words, in the event DAP or PKR do not agree to them they will follow what the other two parties said with an excuse as following the majority. In principle, yes, PAS has been following the majority of two from 3 main parties in Pakatan Rakyat. This also shows how PAS is not being able to get PKR to agree with them (especially on Islamic matters), what more DAP.
Why PAS is in the limelight of majority muslim and bumiputera in Malaysia, not DAP or PKR? Why the sacking of Dr Hasan Ali is seen to be important and become a catalyst for another issue known as “Third Force” (and not Datuk Ibrahim Ali)? Why DS Anwar and TG Nik Aziz early to respond that Hj Hadi is badly needed, but no fast response from Lim & Son and Karpal Singh?
Simple.
PAS has always being seen the best alternative of UMNO. Not DAP, not PKR. Yes, DS Anwar and some credible leaders of PKR is there in PKR, but PAS as a party are much closer to Malaysian muslim and bumiputera than them. Anything misdeeds done and UMNO is hopeless to handle, many will look for what PAS have to say. So do vice versa when PAS failed to act well, UMNO’s view will be sought after.
In other words, PKR and DAP is nowhere near to majority muslim compared to PAS when it comes to seeking directions.
And when PAS is stepping up and seen to be firmer than before, of course what have been projected by Pakatan Rakyat has to be revised and re-analysed.
From my point of view, this development is not really surprising to me. After the “agree to disagree” decision on Hudud and somehow it upsets many muslim (and also some incidents including the church raid), PAS know they have to step up. They know that they have to take the lead if they want to be seen significant in shaping the future of Malaysia when Barisan Nasional reign as government ends.
However, as said earlier, if the developments are just a ploy to confuse Barisan Nasional and make BN to be over-confident, is PAS playing the prime role, or just a pawn in Pakatan Rakyat’s plan?
For now, I can see that PAS’ direction is shifting a little bit, but still in Pakatan Rakyat original route. This is due to certain individuals that seem to be in line with DS Anwar more than TG Hj Hadi and TG Nik Aziz. For example, Mat Sabu’s stand on DS Anwar’s Israel issue differs from what have been decided by Majlis Syura of PAS. Being as Vice President of PAS, should not Mat Sabu know when Majlis Syura sits and discussed the issue? Should not Mat Sabut know it is better to wait for what Majlis Syura to come with a decision?
Will Pakatan Rakyat and PAS falls apart? Will within PAS themselves, PAS will fall apart?
Question on the street: How much PAS can cover what DS Anwar has done? Until when?
