I twitted about Dr Hasan Ali’s word when someone bumped into and replied as below:
In first instance, I thought his twit was genuine and I replied, hoping he also can provide the comparison for oppositions in Malaysia and Singapore, which can justify that our opposition is poorer than those in Singapore. In other words, can justify that our opposition is really being opressed and mistreated here in Malaysia.
However, he shifted by giving other arguments and not giving the comparison.
From thereon, from his twisting and turning (similar to YB Fuziah before) I know he can’t support his own arguments. In between, he wasn’t only engaged me, but also @HangModen, who also asked for his rationale and advised him to be careful with his arguments.
I thought it was the end yesterday, when he replied saying the statement came from US ex-embassadors.
Surprised I was as the allegation is quite disturbing. Disturbing considering how could ex-embassador have the knowledge of wealth status of ministers here in Malaysia and Singapore, and come with such statement. Later, I realised that he was confused with his own arguments, especially when he gave me links to two articles. One to article in relation to NFC and another one saying that on the next GE, but none of them saying Malaysian minister richer than Singapore (referring to the initial cause to arguments).
Of course, I am still concerned of his initial arguments. Some may say that I should not be bothered by his remarks, but I have different thought altogather. What and why?
He is one of Malaysians, who reads, but maybe do not read a lot.
He is among Malaysians that want to be heard, and also argued with some other people along the way. He is also among Malaysians who deliver his thoughts to his family and friends, only I don’t know how effective his ideas and thoughts get into the other person mind.
Whatever it is, this kind of thoughts (with little reading or skeptical reading) is spreading among Malaysians, be it pro Pakatan Rakyat or Barisan Nasional. Only, pro Pakatan Rakyat is by far the most irresponsible in arguments, attacking and accusing without really having the substance; but once caught, blocking, diverting or run away just like that.
If the argument is in our own circle, inside Malaysia and does not involve with foreign countries, I don’t mind with such. However, by making sweeping statements and comparing us with other nations without proper and valid evidence or material, it is not good and irresponsible. Perhaps, to certain extend, can cause uncomfortable relationship with other countries.
Another danger is this can lead to unnecessary unrest and hatred. Whatmore if the level of hatred has come to where one cannot rationalise and will not tolerate to whatever reason and justification. From my point of view, this is already happening among Malaysians as I write this down.
To all Malaysians, each one of us is entitled to our opinion. However, use your right to THINK before you SPEAK. Once spoken, it cannot be reversed.
Back to the arguments we had.. I supposed it upsets me more when his ego made him not to apologise for the statement he has made and do not want to be held responsible. For him, “sorry” doesn’t mean anything and only can get from a child.
I know, one may ask, why I labelled him as pro PR. Simple.. from what he has twitted, even before he argued with me.
Words… can sometimes tell us who we are…without we really tell who we are…
